Yeast Infection

We only bill you for the consultation itself. The cost of any prescribed medications is charged separately by the pharmacy when you pick them up.

This way, you're only paying for what you need, and medication costs are handled directly at your chosen pharmacy.

Yeast Infection

  • A yeast infection, or vaginal candidiasis, is caused by an overgrowth of Candida in the vagina. OMC Virtual Care enables you to request treatment online and get the necessary medication from a local pharmacy or delivered to you.

  • Yeast infections can be treated with both prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) antifungal medications. Prescription medications are usually oral, while OTC treatments often come as creams to be applied inside the vagina.

  • Fluconazole (Diflucan) is a common and cost-effective prescription medication for yeast infections, requiring only a single dose. Another option is terconazole (Terazol).

  • OTC antifungal creams, such as miconazole, clotrimazole, and tioconazole, can also treat yeast infections. These treatments may take a week or longer.

  • Yeast infections, caused by Candida albicans, often occur after antibiotic use. Symptoms include itching, white discharge, and pain or soreness. Prescription medications like fluconazole and OTC treatments facilitate timely management.

  • Antifungal medications can cause side effects such as headaches, stomach pain, liver issues, heartburn, nausea, diarrhea, and allergic reactions. Discuss any concerns with a pharmacist or medical provider.

  • Prescription medications for yeast infections require consultation with a medical provider. OMC Virtual Care connects individuals with providers who can prescribe appropriate treatments when necessary.
